The Role

We’re expanding rapidly and expect to grow 6x in the next 12 months. We’re therefore looking for a commercial finance manager to bring our financial operations in-house and to also act as a business partner to the C-Suite, supporting with all strategic decision making. 

Our dream candidate is someone who thinks big, delivers on promises and wants to progress to FD quickly.

Accountabilities

  • Managing and running day-to-day financial operations, including accounts receivable, reconciliations, payroll, regulatory filings 
  • Preparation of month end accounts and tax returns (PAYE, VAT, corporation tax) 
  • Managing and forecasting cash flow, working closely with the different teams to understand and model changes
  • Preparing and communicating financial reports (covering monthly, quarterly, annual P&L, Balance Sheet and Cashflow reports) to enable the C-Suite to make strategic decisions
  • Establishing and documenting best practice processes, including payroll, VAT returns, R&D tax credits, foreign exchange hedging
  • Developing relationships with external contacts such as auditors, solicitors, HMRC, contractors and suppliers
  • Identifying and improving on factors impacting Fearless’ performance
  • Supporting on special projects, such as designing the commission structure, competitor analysis and market research

Skills

 

  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified
  • Experience with group and subsidiary reporting
  • Excellent commercial and business awareness
  • Confident using Excel, Google Sheets and Xero
  • An analytical approach to work, using numeracy and technical skills to solve problems
  • Ambitious and results-driven, always seeking better ways of doing things
  • Strong negotiation skills and an ability to influence senior stakeholders
  • Immaculate attention to detail
  • Excellent relationship builder, with the ability to manage a variety of competing stakeholders and to build lasting relationships
  • Strong communications experience (written and verbal) and ability to represent Fearless internally and externally
  • Ability to roll up your sleeves and lead by example – diving into a variety of strategic and operational tasks 

Nice to have

  • Working knowledge of legal or HR processes, procedures, and best practices
  • Knowledge of design best practice (Design Thinking)
  • Experience working with Design teams
  • Experience working with invoice financing partners
  • Experience of Risk Management
